Bude Canal Angling Association

Urgent Notice to All Anglers

It has been brought to our attention that anglers have clearly not been clipping down weights and feeders when fishing against moored boats in the vicinity of pegs 10, 11 and 12.  The Association are currently working with one boat owner to assess the extent of damage.  This must cease with immediate effect, otherwise we may face the prospect of angling rights being withdrawn from stretches of bank where boats are moored opposite.

Please deist from using leads/feeders when angling opposite moored boats on pegs 10-11 and 12, even if clipped down.  We collectively need to demonstrate to the Harbour Master and the Boat owners that we are responsible anglers and exercise due care and consideration for other canal users.

Welcome to our website. Established in 1967 Bude Canal Angling Association exclusively offers angling on 1.5 miles of the Bude Canal which is stocked with carp, bream, roach, rudd, tench, perch and gudgeon.  As Bude canal has a sea lock at one end and is open to the rivers Neet and Strat at the other the occasional trout, dace and eel can also be caught.  The Association also has a 1.25 acre lake at Whalesborough stocked with carp, bream, tench and roach.  there is no close season and the canal and lake are open for angling 365 days a year.

Access to the canal is good with a tarmac towpath and numerous car parks at the town end of the canal. There are also a number of purpose built fishing platforms on pegs 25 to 30 in the Upper Wharf which are ideal for wheelchair anglers.  The Middle Pound section between Rodds and Whalesborough locks has six platforms and Whalesborough lake has 19 purpose built fishing platforms with new hard core access paths to most of the pegs.

The Association has a lively match scene for members with full summer and winter league programmes as well as a pairs league and numerous cup contests. Please check out our competition pages for full details (inc. fixture lists) and the most recent match reports.

Full and Associate members also have exclusive access to fish at Hele Bridge Pond, a small secluded section of canal to the south of the A39.  The Association currently has limited Full and Junior places available but Associate Membership is currently full; details of how to apply can be found on our membership page.
