Summer League R9 -
With storm Alex battering the canal 12 foolhardy anglers actually showed up at the draw so it was decided to move the contest to the Bird Hide and Dead Elms sections where there was at least some protection from the wind.
Simon Allen made it 4 wins from 5 as he bagged a succession of silvers on the short pole from 43 (end peg) and effectively won the Summer League with a match in hand. Steve Maynard used simillar tactics to sneak out over 3lbs of silvers from peg 47 whilst Rob Fuller had enough cover from the gale force gusts (fishing the peg where Falcon Cottage Gardens end) to eek out 2lbs silvers on the long pole. Mark Gratton was fourth with 1lb 8ozs of silvers off the Elms section.
Everyone got a soaking with Dave Allen and Paul Braund having to call time early to avoid hypothermia (Ady stuck the course!)
