Sunday 15th October - Paul Drissel Trophy

The first match of the winter league was fished on a glorious indian summers day with bright sunshine and very light winds throughout.

The anticipated Lower Basin shut out did not materiaslise although Dave Allen won the contest from end peg 20 with a mixed bag of silvers that included a 2lb perch and 2lb bream.  Also on an end peg, Ady Larkins tempted a few bonus bream on the tip from peg 35 to finish second with 11lbs.  His best bream of 2lbs 4ozs also won a bottle of rum donated by Waterfront Fishing in memory of Driss, who loved his slab fishing.  Simon Allen bagged over 2oo redfins on the long pole from peg 30 for 8lbs 11ozs (mainly small fish) to finish third, 5 ozs ahead of Tony Hillas in fourth, who banked 8lbs 6ozs from peg 19 with a net of silvers (obviously not a wafter day!).

There were section wins for Dean Ferris (6lb 6ozs peg 12) and Paul Braund (6lb 15ozs, 102 fish,  peg 27).

It was also good to see Mike Bowden back on the bank.
