Sunday 26th November - Winter League R4
A 15lb carp hooked 10 minites before the whistle and landed 10 minutes after easily won the contest for Tony Johns. The carp took an inky squid hook bait presented on the method feeder, using a 40 year old second hand Normark Black Medallion rod (screw in quiver tip and one previous owner, Mr Paul Braund!). Luck didn't come into it as 30 minutes from the end Tone stated to the anglers either side of him, 'time to go for a carp'.
There can only have been looks of disapointment from Steve Whitehouse and Rob Fuller on seeing Tone battling with a carp at the death, both banking respectable nets of skimmers with the odd slab to end within an ounce of each other. Steve ended up just ahead of Rob and clinched second with 9lbs 10ozs, both fishing the long pole. Steve has now pulled several lengths clear of the field at the top of the league.
Dave Allen took the narrows section with 7lb 7ozs from peg 22 (which is the Brendon Car park peg) and Adrian Hill had a default Lower Basin section win with 6lb 7ozs of silvers. An honourable mention to Colin Abbott who had a career high finish of 7th (notably ahead of Ady Larkins) netting 4lbs 1oz off peg 12.
