Pairs League Round 6 (Evening)

It was the first maximum pointer of the pairs league season with the New Halwill Hustlers handsomely winning both sections (once again from end pegs!). The Bream Master Nathan Underwood finally struck 'slab' and netted 22lbs of the match anglers sluggish fighting friends. Partner Ian Gray tackled a harder fighting 4lb carp and amassed a further 10lbs of silvers from peg 28 to easily put the Hustlers top of the podium on the evening and the league by a point.
The Codfathers kept up their relentless title challenge with a creditable equal third (with the Lager Louts), helped by a 3lb carp netted by Simon Hockaday, but they now slip to second place in the league. Ady Larkins had a splendid 17lb bag for the lager Louts but partner Kevin Hill could only find one 'lump' (a 3lb carp) that saw them eventually tie for third. Going in the other direction and what could be the start of a charge from last years champions were 'Me and My Boy' with Simon's 15lb and Dave's 6lb bags easing them into second spot on the evening.
