Pairs League Round 1

Whalesborough Lake and the Hele Bridge Stock Pond provided the two sections for this opening competition of the new season. Whilst the large predicted bags of carp did not materialise from the lake there was plenty of action with four weights over the 20lb mark. The Stock pond was hard going and the leading weights included the odd lump with everyone else bagging small silvers.
The reigning champions got off to a flyer with Nathan Underwood (35lbs) and Ian Gray (8lbs) finishing first and second in their sections respectively giving the New Halwill Hustlers an easy win. Simon Hockaday pipped Ian by 2ozs for the Stock Pond section win but partner Steve Whitehouse could not back that result up in the lake.
There was a tie for second place with New Team Faint Heart and the Tiscott Boys ending on 15pts apiece. Stand in for regular Tony Johns, Wayne Barnard, bagged over 4lbs of bits which combined with Paul Braunds 20lbs of carp gave the Tiscott Boys their best result for over two years!
A quick mention for Cosmic Angling who minus a partner still picked up valuable league points through Ian Croxton's 27lb carp haul.
