Corvid 19 Update

Wednesday, 25 March 2020

Dear Member,

We find ourselves in unprecedented times as the country attempts to deal with the Corvid-19 outbreak.  Like many sporting organisations across the UK, we, the Angling Trust and Environment Agency are closely monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. The Officers of the Association are following the current Government and NHS position and whilst we fully understand the role angling has in promoting active lifestyles, physical health and mental wellbeing, we have to ask our members to adhere to the current guidance and refrain from fishing.

In addition and under Under section 5h of the Rules and Regulations of BCAA, the Senior Offices of the Association have taken the follow action as set out below.

AGM

The Annual General Meeting has been deferred to a future date when government advice allows our members to gather safely to conduct business (our expectations are this will not be until the Autumn).  As such, the current elected officers will continue until we are able to convene an AGM.  Our Treasurer will work with the Association accountant to prepare the annual financial accounts as usual to maintain our current financial operating and reporting year.  Members will have an opportunity to scrutinise and approve those accounts when we are able to convene the AGM.

Buffet Presentation Evening

With the closure of restaurants and pubs we have had to postpone the Annual Buffet Presentation evening planned for May.  Whilst no new date has been set, we will endeavour to hold the event (advice pending) in the Autumn.

Membership Renewal

Arrangements for renewal have been deferred, a further communication will be sent by no later than 31st April that will give an update and instructions of how you may renew your membership.

Match Fishing

The Government have advised that they will stop all gatherings of more than two people in public.  On this basis all matches have been cancelled until we are advised otherwise.  We will update and publish a revised fixture list when able.

We will issue a further communication as and when but no later than the last week of April.

Please follow the advice of the Government and keep yourself and your families safe.

Paul Braund Chairman BCAA
