Saturday 19th September - Junior Match Whalesborough Lake
The overcast, mirky day did not deter the fourteen junior anglers who braved the drizzle to contest the Whalesborough Lake Junior Match.
Whilst a number of the anglers targeted the carp with wafters and boilees, the winning tactic on the day turned out to be the classic float fishing maggot over sweetcorn for the silvers (in the hope of bagging the odd stocky carp!). Despite losing a big fish early doors Fred Wightman made it two wins on the bounce banking a 5lb 13oz net of roach that was boosted by a stocky carp. Close behind on an adjacent peg was Taylor Davage, who left it late bagging a stocky carp in the last half hour which added to his net of silvers gave him 5lb 6ozs and second place. Harry Noakes did target the carp and was rewarded with a 3lb stocky and a bream for 3lb 7ozs which was enough to secure 3rd place.
A big thanks to everyone who donated prizes as everyone went away with something.
