Bude v Bideford

Sunday 25th October - Bude v Bideford

Conditions were far from ideal with a gale force wind blowing directly up the canal, but at least the rain held off.  Bude were trying to recover a huge points deficit from the first leg but it turned out to be another mauling from their Devon neighbours, going down in this leg by 210 to 250 points, with a record overall defeat of 302 to 410 points.

Bideford angler Richard made the most of the sheltered conditions on Bird Hide peg 47 where he used mussel bait to win with 14lbs of bream.  Tom Dowling braved the pole in gale force winds at the other end of the canal off peg 5 and was rewarded with a couple of slabs, putting together a reasonable bag of silvers for 11lbs 13ozs and second place.  The best placed Bude angler was Ian Gray who fished the tip for 11lbs of bream from the Second Basin peg 30.

Hopefully things will improve for Bude next year.
