Summer League R1 2025

Sunday 18th May - Summer League R1 - Monica Jones Cup

The traditional season opener saw the introduction of a new points  system whereby points are awarded to anglers on a per section basis as follows:

      1st section  6pts: 2nd section 4pts: 3rd section 3pts: 4th section 2pts: 5th section 1pt (Where a section exceeds 5, there are no points for 6th or lower.

For the second year following it was peg 35 that provided the winner with Den Law netting over 31lbs of Bream for victory on what was his debut Bude Canal match.  Close by on peg 33, Andy Preston was also amongst the Bream, brining 16lbs 8ozs to the scales to secure second place.  Whilst it was tough going in the Lower Basin Tony Hillas did find 7lbs 8ozs of pole caught skimmers early doors to avoid a Second Basin shut out, finishing third.

There were section wins for the current Summer League Champion Brian Powell with 4lbs 2ozs of silvers, and Simon Allen with 6lbs 6ozs of silvers that did include a 2lb 7oz hybrid (a new canal record).
