Summer League R4 - Falcon Cup
The match weights continue to dramatically improve on last year with the average weight more than doubling, and not a carp in sight! Kevin Hill bagged an early 2lb slab and a succession of skimmers throughout the match on the long pole from peg 17 to win the Falcon cup with 15lbs 9ozs. Tony Hillas was blaming Preston barbless hooks for loosing a number of fish and not being able to keep pace with Kevin, eventually banking 12lbs of tip caught skimmers for second spot. Simon Allen drew the 'flyer' peg 35 but it was not the outcome as anticipated, banking an 11lb net of silvers for third, but with no excuses about shoddy tackle at the presentation.
Brian Powel continued to wind back the clock as he continued his excellent comeback season with a near 8lb bag of redfins from peg 32 to win the Second Basin section on the short pole. Andy Southey also picked up the Lower Basin section with 9lbs of early doors tip caught skimmers from peg 18, but unlike Kevin's swim, the bites dried up on him.
