Sunday 1st October - Reg Howard Trophy

Summer League R9

It was a carp free match as wafter tactics failed to tempt the mud pigs out and it became a battle of the silvers with the Lower Basin winning out with four of the top six places, including first and second.

Tony Hillas made it his third victory of the season with a tip and pole silver net of 12lbs 13ozs off peg 18.  Next door on peg 19 Wayne Burnard  prouced his best net of the season banking a number of skimmers on the pole for 11lbs 7ozs.  Brian Powel prevented a Lower Basin shut out with a 9lb 9ozs haul of redfins from peg 33 but it was not enough to make up the points on Dick Turner to win the Summer League, ending runner up.  DT was one of four anglers seperated by only 2ozs, but an 8lbs 13oz bag of skimmers was enough to finish equal 5th and win the Summer League by 7.5 points.  I have yet to check, but suspect DT is our most senior victor and has the longest gap between league wins (and not a wafter in sight).

There were section wins for Steve Whitehouse in the Lower Basin (9lb 2ozs) and Andy Southey in the Second Basin (8lb 13ozs).
