Winter League Round 1, Sunday 16th October:
With double figure bags of silvers coming from pegs 1 - 6 over the last three weeks the anglers drawing this section must have been confident, none more so than Jim Escott who drew the same peg he practised off on Thursday, bagging 15lbs. In the end the six anglers could only amass 1lb 9ozs between them, Nathan Underwood winning the section with 10ozs of roach!
Trevor Vernalls drew the highly fancied peg 34 and bagged skimmers and roach consistently on the long pole for a winning weight of 13lbs. There was an added reward for Trevor as he was fishing off one of the 'bonus' pegs that added a further £100 to his winnings. At the other end of the basin Simon Allen found a number of skimmers early on across the basin on the waggler, they slowed up but he still banked 9lbs for third.
Second place went to Rob Fuller off peg 14 with net of pole caught silvers. Adrian Hill ended in fourth with 8lbs of pole caught roach and skimmers. There were section wins for Nathan Underwood, Tony Hilias and Paul Braund.
The big question now is were to peg that awkward 'third' section in a fortnight.
