Winter League Round 6: Sunday 9th January:
What a difference a week makes with the roach absent in what turned into a real scratching contest. It was the anglers who managed to pick up the odd skimmer who made the frame with the prediced roach catches on Whoopers Bend (pegs 13 to 19) not materialising and 5 anglers in that section not weighing.
The match ended in a dead heat betwwen Matt Smpson and Adrian Hill who found some skimmers and few bits to put together 3lbs 1ozs apiece. The difference was Adrian caught his fish early doors whilst Matt picked his up in the last 90 minutes. Dave Allen netted a decent bream, an eel and a perch for 2lbs and second place. Third went to Simon Allen who found a couple of skimmers and some elusive roach for 1lbs 9ozs, beating Kevin Hill (who had to settle for the section win) by an ounce. John Townsend picked up the Whoopers Bend section win with 3ozs, it was one of those days.
League wise it was costly for Steve Whitehouse who drops to third as Matt Sampson opened up a 4.5 point lead at the top from Simon Allen. Freezing February could see it all turned on its head again, may the luck of the draw be with you!
All ideas as where to fish the next comp greatfully accepted.
