Charity Match: Summer League Round 7, Sunday 17th August:
Simon Allen managed to hold onto five carp between 4lbs and 6lbs from the Bird Hide section to bring a 25lbs winning haul to the scales. Simon fished the long pole to the reeds but used a 'bungee' elastic tightened up as far as he dare to go in order to play the fish out and away from the snags. 'Bream Master' Nathan Underwood was chasing close behind with a succession of skimmers from the Second Basin but the additional slab he needed to catch Simon eluded him and he had to settle for second. Fishing next to Nathan Dave Allen did net a bonus slab to bring his net to over 13lbs, enough for a comfortable third spot.
There were section wins for Kevin Hill with over 11lbs from the Bird Hide, Dick Turner netting over 7lbs from the Second Basin and Simon Hockaday who found a couple of slabs on the tip from the Lower Basin for close on 8lbs.
All 21 entrants went home with a prize and over £142 was raised on the day. Thanks to everyone who attended.
