Fur and Feather Report

Monday, 7 March 2011

Only seven ounces separated the top three in Sundays Fur and Feather contest which was re-arranged after being iced off in December.  Simon Allen pole fished his way to victory from peg eight in the Museum stretch with a 6lb 9oz mixed bag of small roach and skimmers boosted by a 5lb slab bream.  Duncan Edwards was only three ounces behind with 6lb 6ozs of roach and bream  taken from peg 18 in the Lower Basin.  Despite the coloured water Paul Braund used bread-flake to net 6lb 2ozs of small carp and roach which include a bonus 4lb slab from peg 14.  The fishing was very slow in the Upper Basin with a lot of anglers blanking.  However, Kevin Hill and Dave Allen both netted a brown trout apiece, a sure sign that spring is on the way.

1st Simon Allen  6lb 9ozs,  2nd Duncan Edwards  3rd 6lb 6ozs,  Paul Braund 6lb 2ozs.
