Winter league R7

Sunday 22nd February 2026 - Winter League R7

Calm, mild and overcast conditions were a welcome change after the past two months of rain and expectations were high following a number of good catch reports in the week.   It turned out to be a struggle to catch with small roach being the only fish feeding with any consistency and anglers needing those bream to feature at the pointy end.

The bream did emerge in the Second Basin and sitting out for them on the pole paid off for Tony Johns who banked two slabs from peg 27 to win the contest with 8lbs 2ozs.  Phil Eagen also stuck it out on the pole to bag three bream for 7lbs 1oz from end peg 25.  Dave Allen completed the Second Basin shut out bagging a slab on the tip and a few silvers on the pole for 5lbs 8ozs and third place.

In the Lower Basin Simon Allen off peg 16 found a couple of decent skimmers on the short pole late on to win the section with 4lb 6ozs from Steve Maynard who had put together 2lb 14oz of bits from peg 19.
