Tuesday 20th May - Pairs League (Evening) R2
Anglers surprisingly struggled to find fish in the Second Basin with Adrian Hill banking the top weight of 5lb 2ozs off fancied peg 34. This gave the Bude Bay Pirates a solid platform that combined with partner Mark Gratton's 3lb 12ozs, saw the 'Pirates' take overall victory on the evening and move to the top of the pairs league. We all know consistency is the key to pairs league sucess and this was demonstrated perfectly by Dave and Simon Allen as both weighed in with 4lbs 10ozs, rewarding 'Me and My Boy' with a second place finish. Den Law won the Lower Basin section with 12lbs 4ozs from mecurial peg 20 but it was to be a third place overall as Andy Preston was amongst many others who struggled to find the fish in the Second Basin.
Fishing peg 14, Simon Allen was in perfect position to see all the action unfold on adjacent peg 13 where Colin Abbot put in the performace of the eveing bringing 6lbs 4ozs to the scales, a bag that included a 1lb 1oz roach (current season best). Whilst partner Phil Eagen could only find 2lbs in the Second Basin, Colin's result saw Fishing Minty finish fourth on the evening, moving them from the foot of the league table into fourth spot. Whlst there are no prizes for fourth, there was some reward for Colin as he took £1 off each of Messers S Allen, A Larkins and S Whitehouse (editors note - please bet responsibly!).
