Defending their title the Bude Bay Pirates were leading the pack with less than an hour to go of the opening contest of the season.

Paul Willshire waggler fished for 2lb 8ozs of roach and partner Adrian ‘Sailor’ Hill backed him up with over 1lb of silver fish.  However, the last 40 minutes saw the contest turned on its head with a number of large fish being brought late to the net.

Dave Allen took a 5lb bream which combined with his son Simon’s catch moved Me and My Boy into the lead, but a double whammy of a 4lb 11oz carp taken by Dougie Ginini and a 5lb bream from team mate Ian Gray saw the French Connection share the win on points.

Another late bream from Kevin Hill helped the Lager Louts sneak into third spot.  The biggest net of the night went to Dick Turner with over 6lbs which gained a consolation point for New Team Faint Heart.

  1. Me and My Boy -  11pts
  2. The French Connection - 11pts
  3. The Lager Louts - 9pts
