Winter League Round 1, Sunday 19th October:
Simon Allen was into the carp again after only 10 minutes, taking a 5lb common on quiver tipped bread soon after the start. Fishing peg 13 he backed this up with a number of skimmers throughout the day to amass over 20lbs and a consecutive victory. New boy Simon Poynter also found an 11lb carp from the Bird Hide section and was thankfull to the land the fish as he was using his silverfish rig at the time! Also bagging a number of silvers the combined 17lbs was enough for second spot. Matt Sampson also had his pole elastic tested to the limits by a carp as he picked one out amongst the skimmers on peg 26 for 15lbs third placed weight.
Dick Turner didn't find carp but hit bream on the 11 metre pole and netted 12 including a couple of slabs from only 13 bites for a 12lb section winning bag in the Lower Basin. Ian Gray found almost 7lbs of silvers to win the Upper Basin section and Dave (pole Doctor) Allen finally mastered the Bird Hide with a 10lbs section win.
