Winter League Round 3, Sunday 11th November:
A new pegging system was trialed using pegs 9 to 22 in hope everyone would catch, and it appears to have worked! If it had not been for Braunders and Sailor landing on a shed load of skimmer bream and dog roach, it would have been a very close run match.
The 9 meter whip found a succession of skimmers and roach from hot peg 15 to finally get Paul Braund to the top step after a hat trick of 'runner ups' this season. He was chased by Adrian Hill on adjacent peg 16 who swapped to the waggler but could not make up the lost ground falling just under 1lb short, but easily enough for second place.
It was the battle of the punch for the final podium position with Rob Fuller coming out on top. Rob was fishing 'new peg' 21 (effectively the Brendon Car park) and amassed numerous small roach for a bag just short of 6lbs. Simon Allen was 2ozs shy of 5lbs as he bagged over a 100 fish to win the section prize. Steve Whitehouse finished fifth, 1oz behind Simon, but had the consolation of going top of the Winter League.
The previous league leader Tony Hillas, choosing to go fishing rather than take his mother out on her birthday, did pick up a couple of points but will obviously be questioning that decision now.
