Winter League Round 4, Sunday 27th November:
Dave Allen made the most of the deeper water in the Lower Basin with a 6lb bag that included a couple of decent skimmer bream, enough to win the match and take a Plymouth Argyle sized lead in the winter league table (what could possibly go wrong now I hear you all say?). Ian 'Cosmic' Croxton also battered the silvers on the long pole, his 5lb bag of our deep water loving friends was enough for second spot. Dick Turner finished off the Lower Basin shut out for the second week in a row with a near 3lbs bag of silvers, third place on the day, and up to second in the over all league table. Matt Sampson took the Lower Basin section with 2lb 6ozs of silvers.
If like me you were one of the unfortunate anglers to be in the Second Basin where all 10 blanked and only one bite recorded all day (well done Tone Johns, but you have to catch it to win the section!), then you have my sympathy. It was day when the most important skill was to pull a red tile out of the bag.
I said last week it will be a hard slog from here on in, I didn't expect it to be this hard.
May you all draw well in the future.
