Pairs League Round 3

It was a welcome return at the top of the podium for Tony Johns and Paul Braund as the Tiscott Boys secured a rare victory in the first of the three evening pairs league matches. It looked bleak for the Tiscott Boys as Ian Gray hooked a carp with 60 seconds to go and landed it within the allotted 15 minutes extra playing time to win the Second Basin section. However, partner Nathan Underwood was well off the pace in the Lower Basin and even a late eel could only see the New Halwill Hustlers home in second place. Me and My Boy put in consistent yet unspectacular performances from Dave and Si Allen to secure third spot, but that is what pairs fishing is about, consistency in both sections.
The league has dramatically closed up with five teams within 5 points of each other so it is all still to play for as we head for the next match on the longest day of the year.
