Pairs League Round 8
Sunday 7th September
A wedding reception and the Headland Reunion at the Bullers Arms the previous evening took its toll on Ady Larkins and Adrian Hill respectively (with the latter not making the draw at all!).
The expected big weights did not materialise as the skimmers were not in feeding mood on what was a hot sunny day. The New Halwill Huslters cleaned up with Nathan Underwood (8m whip) and Ian Gray (alternating long and short pole) had the heaviest bags in each section with 15lbs and 12lbs of silvers respectively. They now have a 9 point lead at the top which will surely see them safely home as champions for the 2014 season.
Second place went to New Team Faint Heart with Duncan Edwards and Dick Turner both finishing third in their respective sections. A near 10lb bag of silvers on the 7m whip by Paul Braund was good enough for runner up in the Second Basin and saw the Tiscott Boys secure third spot with Tony Johns taking 6th place in the Lower Basin.
