Summer League Round 8, Sunday 14th August - BR Autospares Trophy:
The use of wagglers and whips made for a very close contest with less than 2lbs 8ozs separating the first six places who all banked double figure bags of silvers.
Simon Allen netted a winning 12lb bag of skimmers from peg 16 for victory whilst Ady Larkins was close behind, only missing out on first place by 9ozs. Both anglers took the majority of their fish on the trusty waggler rod. Tony Johns carried on his impressive mid-season form putting his favoured waggler rod to full use and in the process beating current league leader Natahan Underwood and securing third spot by 2ozs.
There were section wins for Len Hancock from the narrows, Peter Slade in the Lower Basin (including a fin perfect 1lb 8oz roach) and Dave Allen in the Second Basin. Dave had a bit of luck when a skimmer he had hooked which was passed over a rowing boat by its bemused occupants, to everyone's annoyance the fish didn't fall off, it was Dave's lucky day!
